# CoreGPT AI for Drive

> Summarize any file in Google Drive, pull out key points and deadlines, translate it or ask questions about it, and create new Docs with AI.

CoreGPT reads the file you select in Google Drive and answers questions about it. It works with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, PDFs and images.

## Open CoreGPT in Drive

**1. Install it once**

Install **GPT for Google Workspace™** from the [Google Workspace Marketplace](https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/coregpt_ai_for_workspace/845108372332). See [Install for Google Workspace](/getting-started/install-google-workspace.md).

**2. Open the side panel**

In [Google Drive](https://drive.google.com), click the **CoreGPT** icon in the panel on the right.

**3. Select a file**

Click any file. The panel updates on its own.

**4. Allow access to that file**

The first time you use a file, click **Allow access to this file**. Google asks you to approve each file, and only that file is shared, nothing else in your Drive.

## Work with a file

Under **AI actions for this file**:

| Action | What you get |
| - | - |
| **Summarize** | What the file says, in a few points |
| **Key points** | The important facts, dates and deadlines |
| **Translate** | The file in your language |

Under **Quick questions**: **Find dates and deadlines**, **Explain it simply** and **Find risks or issues**.

Or type your own request under **Ask AI about this file**, for example:

* "Total the revenue column"
* "Who is responsible for what?"
* "What changed compared to last year?"

Click **Save as new Doc** to keep any result as a Google Doc in your Drive.

## Several files at once (Premium)

Select several files together to **Summarize these files**, **Compare them** or **Find conflicts** between them. Each file needs its own **Allow** the first time.

## Create a new Doc

With no file selected, describe what you need under **Or create a new Doc with AI** (for example "Meeting agenda for Monday") and click **Create Doc**. It's saved to your Drive and you can open it straight away.

## Supported files

| File | Plan |
| - | - |
| Google Docs, Sheets and Slides | Every plan |
| Word, Excel and PowerPoint files | Every plan |
| PDFs and images | Premium |
| Google Forms | Use the add-on inside Google Forms instead |

## Plans

Drive uses credits: bigger files use more.

* **Free:** free credits to try it.
* **Standard:** a monthly allowance of credits.
* **Premium:** a bigger allowance, the smartest AI models, much larger files, PDFs and images, and several files at once.

You can top up credits at any time, and Drive is included in the [Google Workspace suite plan](/getting-started/plans-and-credits.md).

## Troubleshooting

> **It says the file can't be read**
>
> Check that you clicked **Allow access to this file**. Very large files may be too long; try a smaller file or Premium. Empty files and unsupported types (like videos) can't be read.

> **I don't see the CoreGPT icon in Drive**
>
> Make sure the side panel on the right is showing and reload Drive. If it's still missing, reinstall the add-on from the Marketplace.
